Palestine in UNESCO

Yesterday's UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) vote on Palestine went well for the Palestinians; they were accepted by a vote of 107-14, with 52 abstaining. 81 votes were needed to pass. This event is absolutely huge!

The U.N. Security Council vote will be tallied on 11/11. This vote is certain to fail, for the U.S. will veto, and is one of the 7 permanent members of the Sec. Council. The U.S. is also putting immense pressure on the non-permanent members to vote against Palestine. Yet after this vote, Palestine will no doubt take the vote to the general assembly, where it most likely will be approved. Yet this move can but grant the title of "Observer State" to the Palestinians; but it is still a victory, for then Israel will be answerable to the world for their treatment and abuse toward them.

So what does being a member of UNESCO benefit? First, of course, it is recognition of Palestine as a state, on a solid plane. However, it also affords them a measure of protection from the ravaging of land and sacred sites by Israel! In other words, more direct global supervision over the situation.

I watched a 3 minute clip of the vote, where they high-lighted certain member's choices. China, Russia, and even France all voted in favor. Britain abstained (I thought they would surely vote "no".). Why so many abstentions? This is due largely to U.S. economic and military pressure. Mostly, to vote against the move would alienate Arab & other world relations, but to vote for it would ignite the ire of the U.S.

Immediately after the vote, State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland had no choice but to announce cutting the U.S. funding of UNESCO! This amounts to $60 million, about 22% of UNESCO's funding. Now you know why the U.S. has been so big on foreign aid; so that we can then blackmail countries into doing our bidding!

The real horror that stood out to me, is why UNESCO funding was immediately cut. It is because of a 21 year old law which was passed by the President and Congress, which prohibits payment to any UN body accepting Palestine as a full member! This is an evil, beyond description! It is absolute, total suppression of the Palestinian people. First we did it to the Indians, then the blacks. We even did it to the Japanese in our country during WWII. We needed a new minority to beat up on, I guess. Never, ever, ever, ever suppose that America is a "Christian" nation, or a God-fearing nation; we are a nation slated for God's judgment. Blood requires blood (Numbers 35:33), and we all are accountable for what we have allowed our leaders to get away with!

Yesterday's event will have a huge bearing on the future, and the outbreak of far greater violence, leading to WWIII. The unrighteous acts of the U.S. & Israel will not go unanswered by the world at large, or the immediate Arab nations in the surrounding area.

That's it for today; one news article, but a big one.
