Bits-n-pieces 10/4/11

While all is "quiet" through the controlled mainstream media, there is actually much going on in real news! At this moment, overall news is more broadly based than specific.

Somalia keeps showing itself to be not only a nation in famine, but also one torn by war.
- 79 killed in Central Somalia fighting.
- In Mogadishu, a truck bomb has killed 139!

Syria opposition has launched a "national council", and is asking the international community to take action to protect the Syrian people.

In Iraq, gunmen stormed a police headquarters in the city of Ramadi (west). I think 13 were killed before the gunmen surrendered.

The revolts opposing the gov'ts in Bahrain, Yemen, and Saudi Arabia are actually legit! They are seeking to overthrow or reform oppressive regimes which are supported by Western interests. The U.S. pretty much stays out of these, except for the occasional drone strikes in Yemen. There could be more happening beyond what comes out from any source.

U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta has condemned Congressional actions that stifle Palestinian aid- and right he is! If you want both sides to return to negotiations, punishment against Palestine is counterproductive. Panetta has also warned Israel that they are becoming incresingly isolated, pointing to the growing tensions between them and long-time allies Egypt and Turkey. he is suggesting that they make more concerted efforts in diplomacy.

Also, the senior editor of Veterans Today, Gordon Duff, has exposed 4 secret bases that the U.S. has in the Black Sea in the nations of Bulgaria and Romania. No surprise there! Mr. Duff's figures showed that 369,000 of 1.6 million U.S. service men & women are stationed in countries outside of America and its territories; he says we are in 150 nations, which is considerably higher than other figures I've seen.
