Confronting Syria and Pakistan

Is it possible that the Western imperial powers will engage Syria & Pakistan at the same time? This would certainly also involve Iran, a major ally of both nations- and geographically situated directly between them!

First, from Syria;
- Syrian troops storm in to crush key rebel city.
- Syrian tanks pound anti-Assad fighters for 2nd day.
- Syrian forces kill 17 as Europe, Russia and China move toward a U.N. resolution pressing Assad to stop the violence.
- Syrian protesters attack U.S. ambassador (Robert Ford). Syrians know what the U.S., Israel, and NATO are up to, and are demanding that they stop. The ambassador's car was egged, and stoned, as he was en route for a meeting with Syria's "opposition" leader.

One of the great disinformation headlines I saw was, "U.S. to Syrians: 'Don't expect another Libya.'" This title was mostly for concerned Americans! To read the article, you find that (1) There is no assurance that Syria won't be the same as Libya; only that it doesn't have to be. (2) The person issuing this decree was not conveying Washington's official opinion, but his own. (3) The phrase "Don't expect another Libya" could mean many things, but it won't exempt them from an attack. The truth is that Syrian developments have proceeded almost exactly like the Libyan ones.

In Pakistan, protesters are also taking to the streets, demanding that America leave their country and the region. The Pakistani gov't has issued a statement declaring that it will militarily repulse any attempted U.S. attack, or act of aggression. They certainly have already shown incredible restraint by enduring 3 years of attacks from our drones! In spite of these facts, U.S. drones struck again in NW Pakistan, killing 4.

Due to internet challenges, I have to cut this blog short- and it's a day late! Stay tuned for more in the near future.
